For sale is an impressive Israeli 1/2 Sheqel coin from the year 1980 (התש"ם), a classic item from the first series of Sheqel coins which replaced the Israeli Lira. The obverse of the coin proudly displays a roaring lion, a design inspired by an ancient Hebrew seal from the 8th century BCE found in Megiddo, symbolizing strength and royalty. Above the lion is the State Emblem of Israel, and around the circumference, the name "Israel" appears in Hebrew, Arabic, and English. The reverse shows the denomination "1/2", the word "Sheqel" in Hebrew, and the Hebrew year of issue "התש"ם", with two small stars flanking the denomination. This coin, made of a copper-nickel alloy (75% copper, 25% nickel), is a collectible item of historical and cultural significance, representing the transition to the Sheqel, a wonderful addition to any Israeli coin collection, or a nostalgic piece from that era.
