For sale is a Japanese 10 Yen coin from Showa year 46 (昭和四十六年), equivalent to the Gregorian year 1971. The obverse of the coin prominently displays the numeral "10", with the year of mintage during Emperor Hirohito's reign, "昭和四十六年" (Showa year forty-six), below it. The design is encircled by a stylized laurel wreath. The reverse side features a detailed depiction of the Phoenix Hall (鳳凰堂) of the famous Byōdō-in Temple (平等院) in Uji, near Kyoto, a UNESCO World Heritage site and one of Japan's most iconic structures. Above the building is the inscription "日本国" (Nihon Koku - State of Japan) and below it the denomination "十円" (Jū En - Ten Yen). The coin is made of bronze, which gives it a characteristic reddish-brown hue and durability. This classic circulated piece is a common and recognizable Japanese coin, representing Japanese culture and architecture, and a fine addition to any Asian or world coin collection.
