For sale is a Nepalese 1 Rupee coin, minted in the year VS2034 (equivalent to 1977 AD), an item representing the rich culture and tradition of the Kingdom of Nepal. The obverse of the coin features a central Trishula (trident, symbol of Lord Shiva) within a circle, surrounded by Devanagari inscriptions including the name of the then-King, Birendra Bir Bikram Shah Dev, and the legend "Shri Shri Shri Gorakhanatha". Around this, within squares and geometric shapes, are additional Hindu symbols and the date of minting "२०३४" (VS2034). The reverse side displays a traditional Nepalese Kukri (curved knife) crossing a floral wreath, beneath which is the denomination "एक रूपैयाँ" (Ek Rupaiya - One Rupee) and the word "नेपाल" (Nepal) in Devanagari script. Surrounding this, divided into segments, is the inscription "श्री भवानी" (Shri Bhavani - an epithet of Goddess Parvati) and other symbols. The coin is made of copper-nickel. This circulated coin is not just a former legal tender but also a fascinating testament to Nepal's religious and cultural heritage, and a unique and characterful addition to any Asian or world coin collection.
